Attorney Margaret McGee, concentrating in public finance tax law with Pope Flynn, has been appointed to serve as President-Elect of the Hollywood Rose Hill Neighborhood Association. Developed in the early years of the 20th century, the historic Columbia neighborhood is a community of more than 1300 young families, single professionals, multi-generational families, and college students. The neighborhood association—a council of five officers and up to 12 members—produces a membership directory and newsletter, works with the city to discover solutions to neighborhood challenges, and plans annual events, including an Easter egg hunt & party, a July 4th celebration, a neighborhood walking tour, park clean-up days, a holiday homes tour, and a number of other events.
“Warm, well connected, helpful communities are the heart of a large city,” says Margaret McGee, “and being a part of a neighborhood that has such a rich heritage in architecture, commerce, and our city’s overall history is a real privilege. Hollywood Rose Hill has a ‘strong sense of place’ and a great group of leaders, and it will be good to serve as a part of that team. One focus of mine will be the event we produce in conjunction with the Shandon Neighborhood Council—our Homes for the Holidays Tour, which raises so much money for our public schools in the district.”
McGee graduated with a JD from USC’s School of Law and went on to receive a post-graduate law degree in taxation from New York University. She is a member of the South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia bars, as well as the National Association of Bond Lawyers, and is a volunteer with the Pawmetto Lifeline.
